Our Mission
Healing Through Community
Here at The Hive, we believe in the power of community to heal and transform lives.
Our mission is to strengthen community-based supports for families impacted by incarceration, addiction, and trauma.
We offer a range of services including community and jail-based connection coaching, resource connection, peer mentorship, and recreational programming.

The Hive's community-based programs currently operate in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Carroll County, Howard County, and Montgomery County. Facility-based programs are currently operating in the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women and Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

OUR PROGRAMS
At The Hive, our programs are designed to empower our members and provide them with the tools they need to rebuild their lives.
Raising REsilience
Connecting authentically with yourself and others is challenging, especially when past experiences have taught you that relationships aren't safe. Raising Resilience offers trauma-informed connection coaching using evidence-based attachment science and nervous system regulation. Our program helps you build resilience in all your relationships - romantic, family, friendship, and parenting - while healing old wounds and creating new patterns.
Roots &
Wings
Roots and Wings is a wraparound program providing resource connection and support to families with complex needs. Case managers work with caregivers and young adults to assist them in becoming connected with resources such as housing, education, employment, mental health treatment, and more.
Phoenix
League
The Phoenix Program is designed to strengthen community connections through engaging activities that bring individuals and families together. By focusing on providing relationship-building experiences, we help create stronger, more resilient communities where youth and families can thrive.
J's Closet
A social enterprise thrift store, J's closet provides workforce development skills for our members and low-cost, quality clothing for our community. J's Closet travels throughout the county in a trailer, visiting local festivals, farmer's markets, and fairs. When you shop J's Closet for your family, you are giving opportunity & stability to other families around you.
Organization Goals
Our Core Developmental Outcomes
Belonging & Connection: Members consistently report feeling "seen, heard, and understood" as
their most significant outcome—the foundation that makes all other positive changes possible.
Self-Sufficiency: Individuals develop the skills and stability to provide for themselves and their families.
Resource Access: People gain connection to community resources and ongoing support networks.
Social Connection: Members build life-long friendships and support systems that help them increase protective factors and overcome challenges.
Family Preservation: Parents and caregivers strengthen relationships with their children, even when custody arrangements are complex.
Measurable Community Impact
When individuals experience genuine belonging and connection, the broader outcomes follow naturally:
-
Reduced recidivism and repeat justice involvement
-
Decreased taxpayer burden through lower incarceration rates
-
Improved community safety and reduced crime
-
Less court system involvement and associated economic costs
-
Increased employment stability and economic mobility
-
Reduced contact & intervention with social services
